The rules of the road for using Phone Dashcam. Written in plain language, not legalese.

By downloading, installing, or using Phone Dashcam ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the App. It's that simple.
These terms apply to all versions of Phone Dashcam, including the free version and the Pro upgrade.
2. Description of Service
Phone Dashcam is an Android application developed by CyberLab Automation that turns your phone into a dash camera. The App provides continuous loop recording, parking mode, crash detection, camera alerts, AI object detection, and cloud backup functionality.
The App is available in two tiers:
- Free — Core recording features with ads.
- Pro ($9.99 one-time purchase) — All features unlocked, no ads. This is a single payment, not a subscription. No recurring charges.
Features may be added, modified, or removed over time as the App evolves. We'll do our best to communicate significant changes.
3. User Responsibilities
You agree to use Phone Dashcam responsibly and in accordance with all applicable laws. Specifically:
- Safe mounting — Mount your phone securely using a proper dashboard or windshield mount. A loose phone is a projectile in a crash.
- No distracted driving — Do not interact with the App while driving. Set up the App before you start your trip. The App is designed to run without input once started.
- Comply with local recording laws — Dashcam recording laws vary by state and country. Some jurisdictions restrict where cameras can be mounted, whether audio can be recorded, or how footage can be used. It is your responsibility to know and follow the laws in your area.
- Respect privacy — Use recorded footage responsibly. Do not use the App to surveil, harass, or record people without appropriate legal basis.
4. Intellectual Property
Our stuff: Phone Dashcam, including its code, design, branding, camera database, AI models, and all related intellectual property, is owned by CyberLab Automation. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the App or any part of it.
Your stuff: You own all video recordings, photos, and data captured by the App on your device. We do not claim any rights to your footage. When you use Google Drive backup, your files go to your own Google account — we never have access to them.
5. Privacy
Your privacy matters. All video processing happens on your device. We do not access, store, or transmit your recordings. For full details on what data we do and don't collect, read our Privacy Policy.
6. Disclaimers
Phone Dashcam is a tool to help you document your drives. It is important to understand what it is and what it is not:
- Not a substitute for attentive driving. The App does not drive for you and does not replace your obligation to pay attention to the road at all times.
- Camera alerts are informational only. Our database of 336,000+ camera locations is updated regularly, but we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy. Cameras are added, moved, and removed by authorities without notice. Do not rely solely on alerts to determine your speed.
- AI detection has limitations. On-device object detection works well under normal conditions but may be less accurate in poor lighting, heavy rain, fog, or other adverse conditions.
- Crash detection is best-effort. The accelerometer-based crash detection system may not trigger for every impact, and may occasionally trigger for non-crash events like potholes.
- No guarantee of insurance outcomes. While dashcam footage can be valuable evidence, we make no guarantees about how insurers, courts, or other parties will evaluate or accept footage recorded with the App.
- Recording is device-dependent. Video quality, recording duration, and feature availability depend on your phone's hardware, storage, and battery. We cannot guarantee performance on every device.
7. Limitation of Liability
Phone Dashcam is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, CyberLab Automation shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.
This includes, but is not limited to: missed recordings due to device malfunction, inaccurate alerts, footage that fails to save, or any damages related to incidents that occur while the App is in use.
Our total liability for any claim related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Pro upgrade ($9.99), or $0 if you use the free version.
8. Purchases and Refunds
The Pro upgrade is a one-time in-app purchase processed through Google Play. Refund requests are handled according to Google Play's refund policy. We do not process payments or refunds directly.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
For significant changes that materially affect your rights, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify users through the App or our website.
10. Termination
You can stop using Phone Dashcam at any time by uninstalling the App. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App for users who violate these terms, though we'd rather work things out first.
11. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these terms or the use of the App shall be resolved under United States jurisdiction.
